MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BENTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD MONDAY JULY 9, 2018 AT
6:00 P.M. IN THE BENTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING LOCATED AT 1403 SOUTH MAIN STREET, BENTON, ILLINOIS.

MAYOR KONDRITZ CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER. THOSE PRESENT WERE COMMISSIONER MILLER, COMMISSIONER STOREY, COMMISSIONER WYANT, AND MAYOR KONDRITZ. COMMISSIONER BAUMGARTE WAS ABSENT.

COMMISSIONER MILLER MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 25, 2018 REGULAR BENTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER WYANT. VOTE WAS TAKEN. YEAS: 4. COMMISSIONER MILLER, COMMISSIONER STOREY, COMMISSIONER WYANT, AND MAYOR KONDRITZ. NAYS: 0.

COMMISSIONER MILLER MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE AN EARNFARE EMPLOYER AGREEMENT WITH THE BENTON TOWNSHIP FOR $293.00 A MONTH TO BE PAID BY THE BENTON TOWNSHIP. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER STOREY. COMMISSIONER MILLER PRESENTED A MARKETING PROPOSAL FOR LAKE HAMILTON ESTATES, PHASE 1 SUBDIVISION AND ASKED MR. TOM HARNESS OF HARNESS DIGITAL MARKETING TO GIVE A PRESENTATION. MR. HARNESS STATED THAT IF CONTRACTED, HE WOULD SET UP A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO SELL THE PROPERTY AT LAKE HAMILTON. COMMISSIONER MILLER MADE A MOTION TO TABLE THIS ITEM UNTIL FURTHER DISCUSSION COULD BE HELD. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER WYANT. VOTE WAS TAKEN. YEAS: 4. MAYOR KONDRITZ STATED THAT THE CLEANUP AT LAKE HAMILTON IS GOING WELL WITH LESS TRASH AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA BEING FOUND.

NO MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS.

UNDER OLD BUSINESS, COMMISSIONER STOREY STATED THAT WE HAVE HAD AN OFFER TO HAVE LIGHTING FOR THE GEORGE HARRISON MURAL DONATED BY A CITIZEN. ATTORNEY MALKOVICH STATED THAT THIS WOULD BE DISCUSSED AFTER THE MAYOR MEETS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF AERONAUTICS.

IN MATTERS FROM THE PUBLIC AUDIENCE, ANDY LAMONT GAVE A PRESENTATION ON RECYCLING AND URGED THE COUNCIL TO RETHINK THE DECISION TO NO LONGER OFFER RECYCLING TO THE CITIZENS OF BENTON.
