MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BENTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2014 AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE BENTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING LOCATED AT 500 WEST MAIN STREET, BENTON, ILLINOIS.

COMMISSIONER BURNETT PRESENTED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MARCH 21 THROUGH APRIL 9, 2014. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HANDLED A TOTAL OF 257 DISPATCH CALLS FOR SERVICE INCLUDING 11 TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, 39 TRAFFIC STOPS, 18 DOMESTIC DISPUTES, 13 DISORDERLY CONDUCT CALLS, 8 THEFT REPORTS, AND SEVERAL OTHER CALLS FOR SERVICE. THE DEPARTMENT COMPLETED A TOTAL OF 63 WRITTEN REPORTS INCLUDING 21 INVESTIGATIONS CONDUCTED BY INVESTIGATORS.

COMMISSIONER BURNETT PRESENTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MARCH 25 THROUGH APRIL 14, 2014. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD 6 FIRST RESPONDER/SERVICE CALLS, 2 FALSE ALARMS, 2 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS, 1 BRUSH FIRE, 1 RESCUE, 1 ILLEGAL BURN, AND 1 HAZMAT FOR A TOTAL OF 14 CALLS. ALL ENGINGES WERE REPORTED TO BE IN SERVICE.

COMMISSIONER BURNETT MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE AN AUTOMATIC MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF WEST CITY AND THE CITY OF BENTON WITH THE AMENDMENT OF 30 DAYS IN THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT CHANGED TO 60 DAYS. UNDER NEW BUSINESS COMMISSIONER BAUMGARTE STATED THAT THERE WOULD BE AN OPEN HOUSE HELD AT THE BENTON CIVIC CENTER ON MONDAY APRIL 21, 2014 FROM 11 A.M. TO 1 P.M. AND FROM 5 P.M. TO 7 P.M. FOR THE NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT. COMMISSIONER BAUMGARTE STATED THERE WOULD BE DRAWINGS ON DISPLAY AND REPRESENTATIVES WOULD BE ON HAND TO ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT THE PUBLIC MAY HAVE REGARDING THE NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLAN.
